HMK Designer Kitchen Knife Series
The handle is crafted from an oak barrel donated to HMK by the Helsinki Distilling Company. The ring is made of stainless steel, the bolster is from brass.
The ring is extremely important for any knife. It helps protect the tang from breaking through the front of the handle. Either from wear, water damage, or from impact force when considering larger knives. Between the ring and the wood is a single layer of birch skin which helps with cushioning out the transition between the steel and wood as the wood expands and contracts.
The spine and choil are satin polished.
The steel is very carefully heat treated by industrial experts.
