The wood is elm and fire treated, the ring at the bolster is made of stainless steel.
An extraordinary amount of forging is required to make a knife like this. As large pieces of metal have to be stacked before fusing together at forge welding temperatures (1300+ celsius). After which the forging begins. Laminating steel and iron together has a low success rate. 15-50% of the knives generally don't succeed into a final knife.
