It is quite the undertaking to create something like this. First of all, the raw materials alone can cost a pretty penny. Easily over a thousand euros just to gather all the equipment, tools, raw materials, etc... together to start the project.  When you buy a knife like this from me, you are actually really just paying me to go on holiday. What i mean by this is that in the time it takes to just do the rough grinding, i can grind over 300 others knives for less cost. It can take over a month of fulltime work every day. Eight to twelve hour days, for weeks. Everything has to be beyond absolutely perfect. There is a monumental level of difficulty that far surpasses almost any other form of knife making. I am literally working with very rare, organic materials that can be thousands to tens of thousands of years old! The craziest part is, the closer you get to finishing it, the more fragile it becomes, and the more likely you are to have to start all over again. This could very easily mean over a thousand dollars of wasted raw materials, and maybe even up to two hundred hours of work.  You can easily compare the quality of a knife like this to a car. Except a 5000 dollar car is a total piece of shit in comparison. The finishing alone, by hand takes days. Using traditional japanese whetstone techniques.  A knife like this should really cost over ten thousand dollars.  I simply cannot afford to shut down my entire life for a whole month to make one single knife.  Especially when i have many times over made 300 knives in the same amount of time. On the power hammer i can forge hundreds of blanks for RLPs in hours! Kitchen knives are a passion, but the amount of work involved, just to get passable level of quality... You are left with scars.  Modern art like this, made with advanced alloys, materials, advanced machines, ancient techqniques, decades of knowledge, are peak endgame.  Only through extraordinary sacrifice, can something like this be made.
